EAR CANDY: SoundCloud Saturdazed

it's more than music…

Let us tell you about SoundCloud. It's a magical place online where you can find some of the most amazing, "usually unreleased", songs and EP's.

They are the songs you find by luck or by chance.
The songs that not everyone knows.
The songs that you love more than the ones currently on the radio.

We've provided a playlist of the TEN songs we are currently listening to on repeat. This playlist features names you've heard before PLUS names you probably haven't.

Music is about broadening your horizons and finding new tunes to call your favorites.

With that being said, today we share a few of OUR favorites…

EAR CANDY: Current Songs On My Radar

What songs are you currently listening to?
What songs should I buy before I travel next week?
Favorite roadtrip tunes?
Looking to buy one album, which one?
Do you get music anywhere other than itunes?
Favorite songs at the moment?

Okay…I’ll stop.
Those are ACTUAL questions I get at least once a week.

Normally I will respond with a list of four or five songs I currently listen to on repeat.
The most common response is, “I’ve never heard of them before! Thanks for sharing!”

I LOVE nothing more than receiving emails like this one from TL reader/supporter Jessica! Little did she know, she’d help inspire this new playlist!

It’s no secret I’m a HUGE fan of rising stars and names that not everyone knows [YET]. I took to SoundCloud [and my music library] and added in a few of my favorite songs from my favorite artists.

Here’s a little background about some of these tracks I can’t turn off:

First and foremost, have I ever posted a playlist without a Dylan Scott jam?
Well yes, but they were obviously seriously lacking.
This is probably one of my top 5 favorite tracks EVER.
[i listen to it on repeat daily…no shame]

I'm ALL about some girl country! These are some of the best of the best!

CONCERT REVIEW: Chase Bryant & Kelsea Ballerini

2.7.2015
Thirsty Cowboy || Medina, Ohio
Take It On Back Tour
Kelsea Ballerini & Chase Bryant

Kelsea Ballerini: So let me just start by saying that Kelsea is the sweetest girl you will ever meet. She saw a few of us waiting outside before doors open so she came out to say hi to us. That’s someone who cares about the fans. By the time doors opened her sound check wasn’t finished yet so we had what she & Josh dubbed a “Sound Check Party”. During sound check, Kelsea mentioned how she’d been battling with a respiratory flu the whole week but it didn’t stop her. Kelsea was a last minute addition to the ticket for this show but that didn’t stop me from getting overly excited to see her live. I was right up front singing along to every song that she played. The girl can light up a bar with her talent. She killed it on stage with her band. And Josh was killin’ it on the guitar the entire time. Hands down, Kels is my fave new female talent takin’ on Nashville. I cannot wait to watch as she continues to gain more fans and so much more success.

I was lucky enough to have a private meet & greet with Kels prior to the show. It was so fun just being able to talk with her for a few minutes. We made sure to take some #kelfies together too. I’m glad to say that this girl is someone I will endlessly support because she’s such a sweetheart. I’m also happy to have a new friend.

Chase Bryant: This guy had the crowd goin’ wild before he even made it to the stage. And once he came on, the crowd got even more rowdy. Chase is definitely on his way to becoming one of the guitar greats. He can shred on the guitar like you wouldn’t believe. He’s also a pretty funny guy when he’s talking out into the crowd and interacting. This guy has so much energy up on stage; you can’t help but to keep your eyes on him. The crowd was singing along to his songs as he jammed on stage. But once it came time for his single Take It On Back, it went to the next level.

With the help of my TL gals, I chose to wear a simple black tee that said “Holy Smoke” and paired it with the typical skinny jeans and leather jacket. I also rocked a pair of custom cowboy boots.

The night showcased the talent that’s comin’ up in country music and I’d have to say that we’ve got stars on the rise here. Both of these artists have the ability to make their names the ones you see in bright lights. I look forward to seeing where both of these artists take their careers.

LAY IT ON ME
DYLAN SCOTT
Dylan Scott is wrappin the country music world up with his southern boy charm in his new single Lay It On Me. The song was penned by Scott, himself, and fellow country songwriter Josh Kerr and showcases all the best aspects of country music. With lines about lovin on a backroad, the lyrics speak for themselves.
Scott’s soulful voice and southern lines rattle listeners to the core.
I’m willing to bet the song gives you goosebumps. That’s what happens when you don’t just listen to a song, but instead, you live the lyrics.

Dylan Scott has a way of makin us wanna take the long way home.

So take a peek. Watch and be amazed.
Hop on out of your shotgun seat and feel what I’m feelin.

THE SKY'S DROPPIN' JUPITER AROUND US LIKE SOME OLD TRAIN...

SEPTEMBER IS HEREEEEE! In Knoxville, Labor Day Weekend is a big deal. Every year they host a firework show called Boomsday! Normally I'm not into fireworks or big crowds, but this year I knew I had to go!

About three months ago I started hearing rumors about a concert or two that would be happening at Boomsday. At first I heard Rodney Atkins, then Native Run, and then…I heard the one name that made me jump for joy. Obviously I'm talking about Kelsea Ballerini
So…for the past month and a half I've been waiting for the moment to see Kelsea perform at Boomsday.

I called in reinforcements and asked my best friend Nikki to join me for Boomsday! After some reassuring that we would NOT be staying for fireworks, she agreed. We met up with my friends Jeff and Kristina around 5pm and spent the next few hours listening to music and sweating…no really, it was MISERABLY HOT!!!
First up on the stage?
Jackie and I both grew up in Blount County and we have TONS of mutual friends! This however, was my first time getting to meet him and see him perform live. Listen up y'all, I'm OBSESSED! He put on a great show and I am officially a HUGE fan!
[SIDENOTE: Look for his interview on my website SOON!]
My friends and I ended up walking over to another stage to see another artist and ended up missing Lindsay Ell! I'm still terribly upset about this!!

BUT…I MADE IT BACK JUST IN TIME TO SEEEEEEEEEE….
So I've only seen Kelsea perform her songs live one other time and it was in the basement of WIVK in Knoxville while she was here on her radio tour! So being able to see her on stage and singing in front of tons of other people was a super exciting moment for me!
Kelsea sang XO, Dibs, The First Time, a cover of Lady A's Downtown, and her new single Love Me Like You Mean It. Naturally I was in the front row singing every single word and awkwardly dancing. No really, VERY awkward. I'm 100% sure I was embarrassing myself but I don't mind one little bit.
SIDENOTE: I SANG WITH KELSEA….okay, I'm lying a little bit. I sang in Kelsea's microphone…with about ten other girls…and I was off key….and STILL awkward dancing. Regardless though, I can check that off my bucket list.

After her set I of course spent the next hour taking pictures and hanging out with everyone.
Special shout-out to these two studs! I've seen these guys perform many times and together, they make a great pair! I am so glad Jacob Simmons and Josh Kerr are part of Kelsea's team.
[Oh and thanks Caty and Sutton for sharing Jacob with Knoxville for the evening! On behalf of everyone else, we appreciate it!]

Kelsea Ballerini: you are the cutest and sweetest girl ever! Thanks for being my favorite singer/songwriter and friend! I love you AND I mean it!

[I leave you with just a few more pictures from the amazing night]
So until next time Boomsday….
