What made you want to start singing/writing?Growing up, I had two things I wanted to be when I grew up, professional baseball player and musician. After I got cut from my high school’s JV baseball team I decided to give music my full attention. Best decision I ever made.
Do you play any instruments? Did you teach yourself?Guitar. I started teaching myself to play when I was 15.
Who are your biggest musical inspirations?Alan Jackson is definitely my biggest inspiration. He is what I want to be as an artist and a songwriter. There’s no flash or frill in his music. Just raw honesty. Also The Eagles, Skynyrd, and pretty much any country music from the 1990’s were big influences on me.
Where do you get inspiration to write?I can get inspiration from anything. Personal experience is the most common for me, but song ideas can come from casual conversations, another song, tv shows, movie lines, Facebook statuses, etc.
Do you have a favorite song that you’ve written or co-written?I love all my songs, but if I had to pick one it would probably be “Underage”. I wrote it with my buddies Cole Taylor and Thomas Archer about being young, wild, prone to trouble, and loving every minute of it. It’s one of those songs that always takes me back to those days, and I think a lot of people can relate to it.
What moment in your career is your favorite thus far?While on tour with Justin Moore last year in Huntington, WV, I got to sing “Dust On The Bottle” on stage with David Lee Murphy, Randy Houser, and Justin. The best part was it was totally spontaneous. That was a really cool moment for me.

If I could sing a song with anyone I would choose….?I’m gonna go really outside the box and say Eminem. I mean c’mon, how badass would it be to say you got to perform a song with the real slim shady?
Where do you see yourself in a year?Hopefully I’ll still be on the road, writing songs, and playing them for people every night.
5 years?Retired, living in a beach house somewhere in Key West with a slight sunburn, a pair of shades, and some kind of cold adult beverage. Of course I’m kidding about the retired part.
If I wasn’t a singer/songwriter I would be…?I’m not sure. I’m not really qualified to do anything else. Probably still cutting grass for $10 like I did in high school.
I’m afraid of…?Spiders. Deathly afraid.
I never get tired of…?Music. I love everything about it. I seriously have a dream job and I don’t think I’ll ever quit.
What is one thing people may not know about you?I have a severe addiction to Dr. Pepper.
We are almost four months into the new year, what does 2015 look like for you? New music? Festivals? Etc.New music is coming. I’ve spent the first 3 months of the year in the studio making sure that I’m recording the best songs I can, and we’re getting close to done with it, and I couldn’t be more proud of it. And once it is done, I’ll spend all my time on the road playing the new songs. It’s gonna be a busy year, but I’m really looking forward to it.
