CONCERT REVIEW: Michael Ray [Medina, OH]

Michael Ray

‘Party of the Year’ is right. This guy can kill it on the stage. I was blown away from the very second he stepped onto the stage. This time when I saw him he had brought out all the stops, bringing along his band and full set. It was all about the crowd at this show. Between jammin’ with his band and interacting with the crowd, there was surely no energy wasted by Michael. I don’t think there was a minute throughout the entire night that the crowd wasn’t going wild and dancing.

I’d like to give Michael major credit for what he was able to do at the Thirsty. He was able to not only draw a crowd out [while the hometown NBA team had a playoff game], but have the attention of the entire crowd all night long.

I became an instant fan of Michael Ray the very first time I heard him sing, and this show only added to my admiration for his talent. The songs he sang all had their own unique sound, but when combined they all gave ya an idea of the vibe that the album will have when it is released later on. While he played his single “Kiss You in the Morning” along with the new Big & Rich single “Runaway With You”, which he is a cowriter on, he also played an acoustic portion that included some newer material that not even all the band members know.

Since I was one of the lucky fans who arrived at the venue early, the radio station sponsoring the concert gave out M&G for before the show. It was just a quick little photo op so I was able to say hey before the show started. He also came out after the show to meet with everyone who had come to see him.
