CONCERT REVIEW: A Thousand Horses [Virginia]

A Thousand Horses // [2.11.2015]
Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill // Woodbridge, VA

Maybe you’ve heard this band’s new single, Smoke, on your local radio station. If you haven’t heard their music, you definitely owe it to yourself to give them a listen. Their sound is raspy and raw. Southern rock and country music tend to blend together, but in the past decade that has not been as evident in modern country music. A Thousand Horses brings back that southern rock feel to the country genre.

Before the band even came out on stage, they gave the crowd a feel of who they are as a band. They always enter the stage after a montage of songs that mention horses to get the audience pumped.

This hot new band played several songs from their album, Southernality. The Horses started the show by playing the album’s namesake, Southernality and got the crowd rocking!

One of the loudest moments from the crowd was when the Horses played a rocking cover of Hard to Handle.

They have a self-titled song, A Thousand Horses, that has the lyric, “like a thousand horses dragging you down.” Because of the last month I’ve had, that song has been like an anthem to me.

The only complaint I have about this show was the audience. A pet peeve of mine is when the audience screams “Play (Insert whatever the band’s biggest hit is here)!” Obviously, the band will play their biggest hit at some point, calm down. Also, these people were annoyingly drunk, so that does not help their case.

All in all, A Thousand Horses delivered a killer set—Per usual. I cannot wait to see this group continue to take their place in country music.
What I Wore //
Because this show was on a Wednesday night, I needed a quick and easy outfit [[honestly, that is what I need regardless]]. I got dressed for this show at the gym after my workout, so I threw on the same dark denim I wore to work that day with my cut off George Strait tee. The shirt was topped off with a light tan suede vest and my outfit would not have been complete without my boots from License to Boot.
