CONCERT REVIEW: Chase Bryant, Michael Ray, Frankie Ballard [Columbus, OH]

5.24.15
Flannagan’s Dublin || Columbus, OH
Memorial Day Weekend Beach Party

Let me just start by saying that this show was by far the best kick off to the summer & concert season that I could’ve imagined. I mean sand, sun, cold beer, & country music…that’s all ya need.

Michael Ray: ‘Party of the Year’ and then some. Michael and his band kicked it into full throttle for this show. The energy was insane, and the crowd was all about it. He had the crowd goin’ wild for every song that he sang. And they loved the covers, which included Garth, George Strait and some 90’s boy band hits. My personal favorite cover during the set; ‘Dust on the Bottle’. Michael decided to be a little adventurous and actually came into the crowd for a portion of the song and danced around with us. I’ve gotta give it to him, he knows how to get a party goin’ and you can easily tell that he’s having just as much fun onstage with his band as are the people in the crowd singin’ and dancin’ along. This guy is definitely on his way to something big, keep your eye on him.

Chase Bryant: So this guy is a favorite at TL. His music is perfect for summer drives with the windows down and your hair blowin’ in the breeze, aka he was a perfect choice to bring in for a beach party to kick off summer. His set had the crowd goin’ and he was keepin’ the party rockin’. He definitely has the potential to make it big with his guitar skill and feel good songs. He easily captures the attention of the entire sea of people watching him perform when he goes to a place where he is one with his guitar.

Frankie Ballard: Ah, Mr. Beach Party Headliner. Well he sure knew what he was doin’ when he opened his set with ‘I Came to Git Down’. That’s exactly what he did. He had the place goin’ wild for him. So wild, that they were chanting his name while his walk on song was playing because they couldn’t wait any longer. Now I’ve been to my fair share of this guy’s shows, and the energy at this one was insane. I mean, talk about bein’ young & crazy. And you could tell that Frankie and his band were takin’ in the energy the crowd had and givin’ it right back to them x2. Since I’ve been to as many shows as I have, I’ve come to know the set list pretty well. But you want to know something? It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve seen Frankie before, you will have your world rocked each & every time. That’s how you know who has what it takes to make it in the big leagues. There is just something about this guy and his music. Not to mention his appreciation for his fans. He knows why and how he got to where he is right now, and that’s the support of his fans. They’re who buys the music, they request his songs on radio, and they drive to see him play a show. He gives his all during his shows and that’s why I never get tired of seeing him. His guitar skills rival some of the greats. Honestly, you can easily tell that the passion for his music runs through his veins. It’s just who he is. Frankie Ballard is an artist, a songwriter, and a badass guitar god. I’m beyond proud to see how far he’s come in just a short period of time, and it’s only beginning. I say it every time, but trust me, soon he will be headlining arenas and selling out MSG on his own tour because he has what it takes.

All three of these guys are on their way to something big. They each have their own thing that makes them special and that’s what gonna take them the farthest. Plus, in case you weren’t already aware, they are all so extremely talented that it blows my mind. They all know how to put their soul into their music, and that’s all that should ever truly matter.
If you haven’t listened to their music [what are you even doing with your life?], be sure and check it out. They are all working on new music for their albums that will be coming out within the year.

Also be sure to catch each of them while they’re on tour over the summer if they happen to be near you. For tour dates, you can check out their websites:
